Great question. There are a few nonprofit eligibility requirements and they vary by country.

The Google Ad Grant program is available in more than 50 countries. Your first step is to make sure your country is on the list here.

US Based Nonprofit Requirements for Google Grants for AdWords

Nonprofit eligibility in the United States is based on meeting the following:

  • Be recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

  • Be formed for charitable, educational, religious, literary, scientific, or other tax-exempt purposes. For more information, see How to Apply for Charity Status.

  • Must not be a fiscally sponsored organization.

  • Organizations must be currently registered with TechSoup

If you are unsure of your nonprofits status with the IRS here are a few ways to check:

What is a fiscally sponsored organization?

An organization that does not have its own 501(c)(3) but is a part of sponsorship from an exempt nonprofit. You will not be eligible if this is the case.

Why do we have to register with TechSoup?

This is a partnership Google has made. It makes it easier for Google to verify your status, because TechSoup does it for them. TechSoup is actually a great organization that offers more many benefits for nonprofits. So, you should register with them regardless

.

How will Google know we registered with TechSoup?

You will need an authorization token from TechSoup. It is easy to find within your account information.
